Chain of Fools...

So, I’m working in this club in Montreal with an R&B band and the manager comes up to me between sets and says, “there’s a girl that wants to sit in”.

This usually means that some white-chick who wants to be Aretha comes on stage to warble “Respect” like a squeaky door hinge. Wonderful.

Anyhoo, Irene joins the band for “Chain of Fools” (I was close) and proceeds to peel the paint off the walls with a performance that was both respectfully original, and fun. I applauded too.

After I recovered from swallowing my gum, I started writing tunes we could record…

Who Knew?

Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think any bar singing would lead to anything...

...after meeting Howard and sending him a tape of me singing with another band, who knew we’d record some beautiful, kick-ass, soulful songs and get on the charts without a record deal.
